THE TRICORNE:

The tricorne or tricorn is a style of hat that was popular during the 18th century, though actually not called a "tricorne" until the mid-19th century. It has the brim turned up on three sides to produce three points.  In the past its use was associated with the American Revolution, especially Minutemen, and with pirates and it is still in use today for various military ceremonial dress uniforms.
